Somebodys in Trouble

So I went to open the coffee/Baileys cupboard yesterday and this very new, very sharp fillet knife fell freely from the second shelf. I jumped back and it quite impressively stuck itself into the cabinet. It appears in the pic to be sitting on the floor, but it is actually about 1.5 inches above. One can only ponder why a fillet knife was laying to rest upon the coffee cups?

What happend to winter?

Ugh, what is up with this weather?, what happened to my winter? I was so hoping for more frigid weather to try to dispel the myth of global warming..

Quote from the ADN today
"Anchorage recorded its warmest Jan. 16 ever this morning as warm Chinook winds raised the temperature at the National Weather Service office on Sand Lake Road to 50 degrees. The previous record high for Jan. 16 was 44 degrees set in 1926 and 1992, the service reported. The morning temperature also tied the second-warmest day in Anchorage for the month of January. The record high January temperature is 56 degrees, set on Jan. 7, 1934.

Weather records have been kept in Anchorage since 1917."

I just want it to be cold again and maybe a little snow to cover up all the windblown debris in the yard.

With respect to Jackson Pollock.

We have spent all day, dipping our brushes, rolling our rollers and in general making a large mess with several cans of no VOC paint. The only good thing I can say about the day is that it's over and the house doesn't smell like paint. My hands look like the above painting. Problem is, my blue and white hands are only valuable as long as I am alive to use them. While the painting above is worth millions. That just doesn't seem fair.

It ain't easy being green.

I am now on the hunt for No VOC paint for the boys room. This is becoming an eye opener. Both for the twisted way companies word things on their websites and the not so competent employee I encountered at Lowes the other day. According to him, ALL of their paints were zero VOCs. Well, this is absolutely not true. I doubt by the quizzical look he gave me, he didn't know what the three letters meant. As in, no volatile organic compounds. You know, the stuff that can make our kids sick and our house stink for days. I will continue my quest for a greener healthier home. But I think all this late night research will make me sick.

Thank God for (gasp) McDonald's Play Land

Well after a week of -10F or colder weather we finally broke down and took the boys to McDonald's so they could run amok in the play land. After eating a 10 piece chicken nugget box the boys ran, climbed, slid, wrestled and yelled there way to exhaustion. When we loaded them into the car, Brodie was sleeping before we got out of the parking lot. That is the first nap he has taken in a week.. When we got home Jack laid on my chair and watched Wall-e with out moving. Mom and Dad finally got one hour to relax.

The weather is supposed to be cold for another week...I guess play land will be on the agenda for next week...
